A 24-hour per day, in-home personal response system providing security and peace of mind to the elderly and handicapped.
Infant Car Seat Program
An in-hospital program designed to provide indigent families with a car seat for their newborn. Thus ensuring that all babies leaving RMC will have a safe start. The infant seat is new, state-of-the-art, safety approved and will continue to serve the infant up to 20 pounds or nine months to one year of age.
RMC Pediatric Library
Created by the Foundation and stocked by donated new books, DVD’s, and video games to help make the children’s (and their parents) visit in the hospital as enjoyable as possible. The library is on wheels and rolls right up to each patient’s bedside.
Paper Pantry Program
Developed and implemented in conjunction with the Concern for Children, Inc., First Steps program, the Pantry provides complimentary necessities for mommy and baby’s personal hygiene and health care needs. The First Steps program visits the new mother in the hospital and then provides one-on-one education during home visits.
This program offers a guided educational and entertaining tour of RMC for groups of at least ten people and from ages four years through adult. The group consist of, but not limited to, schools, churches and area business leaders.
Community Health Educational Programs
Events such as Project Heart, a heart disease awareness, and Project Hope, an awareness of the top five most diagnosed cancers in our community has become a command performance. The events are very popular and well attended.
Special Funds and Distributions
Foundation Emergency Fund
This fund provides extra assistance to patients and their families with special needs such as food, clothing, utility bills, prescription drugs and more. With an annual fund of $10,000, the RMC Social Services Department interviews patients and/or their families and distributes the funds accordingly.
William Bruce Mitchell, M.D. Library Fund
The Foundation manages and distribute the funds to assist with RMC’s medical library needs.
George Knox Spearman, M.D. Cardiac Fund
The Foundation manages and distributes the funds to assist RMC.
RMC Chaplain’s Fund
This fund was created by an anonymous donor to benefit the services that the chaplain provides to the patients, their families and to the employees of RMC. This fund provides support for the RMC Congregational Health Program.
Created to assist patients with extra expenses during cancer trails, this fund also provides support to the RMC Oncology department by providing staff education for the benefit of RMC to participate in national cancer research studies.
SafeKids of Alabama
The Foundation provides fees and expenses for volunteers continuing education regarding proper car seat usage. Ten children are sponsored annually (with ten additional children matched by BCBS) in the Alabama Child Caring Foundation program, thus providing these children in our community with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama insurance for one year.
Kid One Transport System
Financial support is given to assist in bringing an additional vehicle to Anniston and the surrounding areas to provide expectant mothers and children with free transportation to medical care. Local families are provided with insurance premiums to allow their children to continue their insurance coverage with All Kids.
RMC Employee Programs
Employee Appreciation Day
A celebration during the Thanksgiving holiday season, this event is to give a pat on the back and provide an atmosphere for fun and giving while still taking care of patients during the work day and night.
RMC Employee Christmas Party
This is an annual event held during the work day. As employees visit the cafeteria for a complimentary meal, their names may be drawn at random for a Christmas card stuffed with a cash gift which was given by the physicians. The drawing usually provides over 200 lucky employees with a gift, but food and fun is had by all.
Distinguished Service Award
This honor is one of RMC’s most prestigious awards and is given to an employee who gives selflessly of themselves, both on and off the job, who contributes to their fellow employees, their community and their families. The award is presented in May of each year and the recipient is presented with an etched crystal piece, framed certificate and their name placed on a perpetual plaque displayed in the RMC lobby. The plaque now host many memorable names of honor.
