Psychiatric Services
Understanding the need for mental health care long ago, RMC has provided psychiatric services to the community for over 25 years. Services include:
• Inpatient psychiatric unit
• Partial hospitalization program
• Outpatient services
Geriatric Psychiatric Unit
Most recently, RMC opened the area’s first and only Geriatric Psychiatric Unit dedicated to patients who are experiencing primary psychiatric problems such as depression, dementia, delirium and Alzheimer’s disease. Thirteen beds are dedicated for patients age 65 and over.
Clinicians, consisting of nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and psychiatric technicians, staff the RMC unit, the only such dedicated program of its type in Calhoun County. The patient’s psychiatrist leads the staff with necessary guidance and clinical expertise in diagnosing, prescribing treatment and monitoring progress.
The addition of the Geriatric Psychiatric Unit directly affects the lives of the elderly residing in RMC’s service area by providing quality psychiatric services closer to home, as well as general medical support systems of those needing the service.
