Volunteers Make a Difference
Volunteering not only helps the hospital and our patients, but it also helps the volunteers themselves.
Members of the Auxiliary and Volunteens participants say over and over how much they grow from the experience, how it gives them a feeling of satisfaction, and how the gratification carries over into other areas of their lives.
People who spend their careers in the health care profession often say they do it because they enjoy making a difference in people’s lives. But you don’t need years of schooling or a set of initials after your name to make an important difference. All you need is a willingness to lend a helping hand and a little bit of extra time.
Volunteens can take advantage of this summer program to gain first-hand experience in health care careers, while enjoying the benefits of community service. Participants in the program are asked to work a three to four hour day shift.
If you like people, are willing to be trained, and genuinely want to help patients, then contact Vickie Simmons at (256) 235-5147. Or print out and send in an application.
