Waiting Areas
There are specially designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor in the lobby. Specific waiting areas have been designated for family of patients in the Critical Care Units, the Emergency Department, Surgery, Radiology, Maternity Unit, Pediatrics and Outpatient Department. During certain hours, a member of our volunteer service is on duty in the Surgery Waiting Room to keep family members informed about the progress of surgery. Volunteers are also available during certain hours in the Intensive Care waiting area to assist family members.

Gifts for Patients
Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Please check with the nurse to make sure your gift is appropriate. On the Intensive Care and Psychiatric Unit, please check with the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse regarding any gifts for patients.

Parking
Parking for patients and visitors is available in the lot directly across from the hospital’s main entrance, in the parking deck. Parking is free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or other designated areas. Please be sure to lock your car. If you need assistance, call the Security Department by dialing 0 for the hospital operator.

Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is staffed by volunteers and is open from 9 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and on Sunday afternoon. The shop has gift items, jewelry, magazines, greeting cards, balloons, snacks, toiletries, plants, and flowers. For further information call extension 5378.

Chapel
The chapel is located on the third floor off the lobby. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to visit the chapel for prayer and meditation.

Newspapers
Newspapers may be purchased at the entrance to the hospital. Complimentary issues of The Anniston Star are delivered daily to patients by the volunteers.

For the Hearing Impaired
A telecommunications device is available to help hearing impaired patients or for patients who want to communicate with a hearing impaired relative or friend. Arrangements can be made to have a person who uses sign language help a hearing impaired or deaf patient. Special call buttons and closed captioned TV are also available. Check with your nurse for more information.
